Ignacio del Valle is currently living in Madrid.
He is absolutely devoted to writing. His novels have received wonderful
reviews, especially "The Time of Strange Emperors" (published by
Alfaguara in 2006), with which he won the 2006 Libros con Huella Award, the
2007 Asturias Critics Award, the Dashiell Hammett Award (Special Mention), the
2011 Violeta Negra Award of the Toulouse Polar du Sud Festival. It is now a
film directed by Gerardo Herrero; "The Demons of Berlin" (published
by Alfaguara in 2009), winner of the 2010 Asturias Critics Award; "And
Love Could Not Change the World" (published by Espasa in 2005); "The
Art of Killing Dragons" (published by Algaida in 2003), winner of the
Premio Felipe Trigo Award; "The Boxer’s Embrace" (published by KRK in
2001), winner of Asturias Joven Award for young writers; "Where Waves Come
From" (published by Aguaclara in 1999), winner of the Salvador García
Aguilar Award. Ignacio del Valle has also written more than forty short novels,
all prize-winners at a national level. Some of his books have been translated
into French, Italian, Portuguese and Polish. He writes opinion columns in the
newspapers "El Comercio de Gijón" and "Panamá América",
literary reviews in the culture supplements "Culturas",
"Culturamas" and in "ABC.es", and he collaborates with the
newspaper "El País" and various other publications. He also works for
the radio, with a cultural program on Onda Cero Radio entitled "Conversations
with a bourgeois".
Vive en Madrid donde
se dedica en exclusiva a la escritura. Sus novelas han recibido excelentes
críticas, en particular “El tiempo de los emperadores extraños” (Alfaguara.
2006), Premio Libros con Huella 2006, Premio de la Crítica de Asturias 2007,
mención especial Premio Dashiell Hammett, premio Violeta Negra del festival
Toulouse Polar du Sud 2011. Ha sido llevada al cine por Gerardo Herrero; “Los demonios de Berlín”
(Alfaguara 2009) Premio de la Crítica de Asturias 2010; “Cómo el amor no
transformó el mundo” (Espasa. 2005); “El arte de matar dragones” (Algaida.

Asturias Joven; “De donde vienen las olas” (Aguaclara. 1999), Premio Salvador
García Aguilar. Además cuenta en su haber con más de cuarenta premios de relato
corto a nivel nacional. Parte de su obra se ha traducido al francés, italiano,
portugués y polaco. Mantiene columnas de opinión en los diarios “El Comercio de
Gijón” y “Panamá América”, hace reseñas literarias en el suplemento "Culturas",
"Culturamas", "ABC.es" y colabora con “El País” y
diversas publicaciones. También mantiene una sección cultural en Onda Cero
Radio, "Conversaciones con un burgués".
